Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that wasting has become a grave problem in many campuses. In the dining hall, much food are left in the plates and dumped into the trash can. In the classroom, blank or half blank pieces of paper are left on the desks. In the dorm building, taps are left open and water left running or dripping all the time. And there can be more such examples.
In view of the expanding population and the shortage of various resources, wasting is really a harmful habit. It put strains on the already short supply of food, water, electricity and the like. Besides, it goes against traditional virtue of hard work and simple living and may leads to a luxurious life style, which is dangerous to the souls of mankind.
Therefore, it is high time that we take steps to stop wasting. We should start from trifles around ourselves: remember to turn off the tap when we finish washing; try to order the exact amount of food we can consume; never throw away any blank or half blank pieces of paper. And always remember, a penny saved is a penny earned.

Take water resources as an example, many people believe that there is no shortage of water here. But do you know that every year in China, some areas experience drought, and many people in the mountains cannot even afford water, let alone engage in agricultural cultivation. You should know that China is a water poor country, with a per capita freshwater volume of less than a quarter of the worlds per capita. Especially in the northern part of China, many places suffer from severe water shortages, not to mention the pollution caused in production, resulting in the waste of many freshwater resources.
Through observation, I have found that there is also a lot of waste in our campus. Many students, when filling the water dispenser with boiling water, will first rinse the bottle with half or one bottle of boiling water. As a result, a large amount of boiling water is wasted every day on campus. Some students forget to turn off the faucet after washing their hands, letting the clean water flow away in vain, which is really heartbreaking.
The most serious waste on campus is paper. Some students in the class take notes or do homework, often tearing up their notebooks casually. Sometimes, writing a formula or drawing a graph on a piece of paper is unnecessary. Many notebooks are only half used and discarded in the new semester. Although most of them are eventually recycled as waste paper, they cannot be fully utilized. What a pity!
The lights in many classrooms are on all day from the first person entering in the morning to the last person leaving in the afternoon. Sometimes when we leave the classroom for physical education classes on the playground or computer classes in the computer room, the classroom is empty but no one turns off the lights and fans.
I think we should take practical actions to protect the environment, say no to campus waste, start from ourselves, cherish every drop of water, every piece of paper, and every kilowatt hour of electricity.
