since the quality of honesty applies to all behaviors, one cannot refuse to consider factual information, for example, in an unbiased manner and still claim that one's knowledge, belief or position is an attempt to be truthful. such a belief is clearly a product of one's desires and simply has nothing to do with the human ability to know. basing one's positions on what one wants — rather than unbiased evidence gathering — is dishonest even when good intentions can be cited — after all even hitler could cite good intentions and intended glory for a select group of people. clearly then, an unbiased approach to the truth is a requirement of honesty. because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one always correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. it's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition. unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. ideologies and idealism often exaggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the expense of the truth. this process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. to an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals.

20xx—20xx年任教高一126、128班的英语课；20xx—20xx年任教高三17班、20班的英语课；20xx—20xx年任教高三16、19班的英语课；20xx—20xx年任教高一196、202班的英语课。仅在这八年的时间里，我送出了四届毕业班，走过的路上洒满了我的汗水、艰辛，经历了我奉献于教育的步伐。现小结一下这八年来的心得体会。
（一）沟通感情，勉励关怀
学生是学习的主体，要想使之发挥积极主动性，需走进他们的内心，激发他们学习的热情。针对学生不同的情况，我鼓励他们发奋图强，力争三年后跨入自己理想的大学。高三补习班的学生，有的丧失了自信心，深感前途迷茫，有的则破罐破摔。通过我不断接触和仔细观察，综合各方面的信息，给予他们指导，力所能及地打动他们学习的欲望。“亲其师，信其道”，学生对学科、对老师的好恶等非智力因素对学生的学习有着很大的影响。渐渐地，很多学生开始喜欢我授课，无数次的心灵交流，使我们的情谊日渐深厚。
（二）因材施教，务实“双基”
从第一次的测试中，我发现大部分同学听、说、读、写的基本功很不扎实，需加强“双基”训练。同学们浏览新教材后，也感到他们即将面临一个新的“学习高源”。
备课中，我参考教参及一些“双基”教辅材料，结合所教学生实际，采用一些独特的做法。
1、变考前集中复习为课上天天复习
高中英语知识总量较之初中英语成倍增加，课时却相对较紧。我所教的学生中，中差生居多。如把复习集中在期中或期末考前进行，势必挤占平时教学课时，影响课文的透彻讲解。因此，我对教材中的每一个重要语言点都尽可能做到：以新带旧，深入浅出。课堂习题浓缩精选，先放低要求，待务实巩固后，再循序渐进，逐步拔高。这样就变课前集中复习为课上天天复习。
2、强化词汇、句型、语篇教学
在词汇教学方面，坚持分单元集中讲授，适度扩展，并要求学生熟练掌握构词规律。在课文教学方面，强调句型和语篇的有机联系，要求学生以句子为单位，有选择地背一些重要句型，这样既可减轻学生过重的学习负担，又可达到提高书面表达能力的效果。上阅读理解课时，经常围绕中心大意，常用句型和篇章结构等几个重要环节展开。精读、泛读相结合，对不同的阅读课文采用点拨、启发、提问、讲解、展开和深绎等教法。
上语法分析课时，我从不抠语法，而是把重点放在英语词汇的习惯用法、短语固定搭配、惯用句型和中英文表达方式的差异上，让学生充分掌握借助语法，提高实际运用英语的本领。
上书面表达课时，着重讲明常见体裁的写作要求和技巧。要求学生注意格式、词语的固定搭配、人称、数、时态及英语习惯用法，学会用适当的句型和学过的.基本词汇来表达复杂的意思。
3、巧抓阅读，促进写作
到了高中阶段，在进一步提高听说能力的同时，要侧重培养学生的阅读理解能力。阅读既是一种能力，又是语言学习的一种重要方法。广泛阅读可以帮助学生理解和吸收书面信息，巩固记忆，有助于扩大词汇量，丰富语言知识。从某种意义上说，阅读能力的强弱直接关系到学生高考笔试成绩的高低。上好阅读课，对学生运用英语常用句型、写好英语短文大有裨益。因此，我常鼓励学生尽量根据上下文猜测词义，使之逐渐提高阅读速度，获得独立阅读的能力，更好地配合课堂教学，巩固教学成果。
（三）指点学法，重点突破
针对弱项，对症下药
每次大小测验之后，我总要将学生们的成绩进行分析，找出他们的弱项，以便在今后的教学中作为重点加以突破，为全面提高学生的应试能力奠定坚实的基础。通过平时的教学观察，我发现他们丢分多是因为语感不强，词汇量普遍较少，阅读理解能力不强。
短文改错主要是不注意语言现象。想要提高改能力，有赖于平时足量的练习和实践。短文改错设计灵活，压分度高，综合性强，学生往往辨认不出行文逻辑的错误。解题时遵循三部曲：首先通读全文，初选错误；然后二次阅读，攻克难关；最后重读全文，仔细核对。
回首这四届学生的高考，我所任教班级的学生英语成绩都名列前茅，但这已成为历史，这不是终点，而是一个全新的起点。漫漫教学路，执着、热爱自己的教学是真实的写照。未来我会不断创新，不断充实和完善自己的教育教学能力，不断取得良好的教育教学效果。教育教学工作是一种虽然辛苦但也充满快乐和享受的职业，笔者会继续努力，做一名受社会肯定、让学生尊敬和喜爱的优秀教师。

今年是我到三中的第十个年头，在这十年中，我目睹了学校的发展，也经历了自身的成长和教学理念的改变。经历了由传统教学到现代课堂教学的改革。这是一个探索而又不容易的过程。记得刚到三中时，大家都怕别人去听课，怕上公开课，对一些集体活动也不是那么有激情，当然这其中也包括我们英语组。但到现在，我们高中英语组的'所有老师都不怕别人来听课。也不怕上公开课，甚至敢主动邀请学校领导去听课。学校有什么集体活动，都是积极配合。同行之间能够毫无保留地互相帮助。这样的局面确实让人欣喜，也让我感动。
我们教研组之所以能够和谐，奋进，充满活力和激情，首先得感谢学校领导让我们以教研组为单位在同一个办公室进行集体办公，这使得我们整个教研组各个成员之间得以零距离接触。这样方便大家彼此了解，沟通，而且更有利于大家进行集体备课，交流意见。为教研组的发展搭建了一个很好的平台。
其次，作为教研组长，要尊重每一位老师，因为他们是有血有肉，有思想，有感情的人。要善于发现他们身上的闪光点。每个老师身上都有值得我学习的地方。从他们的身上我学会了工作要敬业，更要专业；做人要热心，大度，开朗。更重要的是不要太计较，心里要有阳光，因为一个人内心出充满阳光，他看到的世界便是阳光的；如果他内心充满黑暗，他看到的世界便是黑暗的。只要我们不太计较个人得失，认同了我们是一个集体，一切都是为了这个集体服务，做起事来便没有什么困难的。让我很感动的是现在高一年级英语备课组，不论有什么任务，他们从不推辞，都是欣然接受。而尤其让我感动的是高三英语组备课组长李杰老师，他总是说“有事你说话，我们全力配合教研组的工作。”在这些老师的感染下，现在的高中英语教研组都有了一个共识。那就是我们是一个集体，是和谐，勤奋的集体。大家都只想将我们组搞的更好。
另外，教研组的建设和发展，其实是老师不断成长和自我提升的过程。需要时间，需要认同与鼓励，也需要激励。让我印象最深的是当初建博客的事。我只说了一句话：“谁在一个星期内建成了博客，我请他吃早饭。”结果不到一个星期，他们都有了自己的博客。随后便有了很多优秀的博文。是老师们缺那么几块钱的早餐钱吗?不！只是他们的劳动需要认同与肯定。在此我想说，如果学校能多些实质性的鼓励与肯定，我想我们以后的教研氛围会更浓，教学效果会更好的 。
还有，我认为教研组的建设与稳定，确实需要一些集体活动。这样的活动会起到粘和剂的作用，将每一个老师紧紧地团结在一起。我们英语组的和谐，奋进与充满激情，都是在这样的活动中得以体现的。

And men who eat fish several times a week have a lower risk of colon cancer, a second team of researchers have told the American Association for Cancer Research. The US National Cancer Institute and researchers at the University of Hawaii found that women who ate the most soy-based foods, such as tofu and miso, when aged 5 to 11, reduced their risk of developing breast cancer by 58 per cent. It was not clear how soy might prevent cancer, though compounds in soy called isoflavones have estrogen-like effects. A second study showed that men who ate fish at least five times a week had a 40 per cent lower risk of developing colorectal cancer compared with men who ate fish less than once a week. Many kinds of fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which interfere with the cyclooxygenase-2 or COX-2 enzyme. COX-2 affects inflammation, which may play a role in tumour growth.

半年的共同学习，使我半喜半忧，喜的是，我们高一三班的学生都很聪明，接受能力强，学习起来显得很轻松，让我觉得忧虑的是：部分孩子对英语不太重视。（包括与个别家长的交流中，发现有家长也未重视）可能这里也包含许多家长觉得英语不太好辅导，你说语文数学吧，还懂点，这英语吧，还真是不好不懂装懂，所以导致相当一部分的孩子英语基础打得很不牢，个别的孩子甚至拼读、书写、背诵等学习英语的好习惯还没有很好的养成，需要从头开始。但是，孩子们上课时的专注同时也让我感到欣喜。认真的孩子一定能把英语学好！

新教材与初中的教材跨度很大，要求也上了几个台阶，对孩子们具有比较大的难度。细心的家长可能就会发现，高中的课本和初中的`课本相比，无论是从词汇量，语法还是课文篇幅的长短都有了明显的区别，初中的内容相当简单，它简直就是三年级知识的巩固，稍微有所延伸，而高一一下子就接触并需要掌握两种时态。所以，有些同学很不能适应，初中学得轻松，还考好成绩，怎么到了高一不行了，这样的现象很普遍，说到底，还是好的习惯没有养成，不够勤奋。在这里，我要点名表扬几位学生，她们学习态度端正，上课认真，书写工整，正因为如此，无论什么考试都能取得很好的成绩。另外我还要提几个同学，他们的潜力很大，但因为还不够认真刻苦，所以没有发挥出自己最好的水平，希望家长能够配合老师，把孩子的成绩抓上去。我坚信：如果您的孩子在您的支持和我的指导下能够及时完成我布置的任务，那么一定能学好。要教导您的孩子一开始就要有吃苦耐劳的精神。坚持严谨的学习作风，成绩马上就会见效。
目前的形势决定了英语学科的重要性，请各位家长务必重视英语这一学科，你们思想上重视了，无形中也给孩子以熏陶，重视与不重视肯定是完全不同的，在英语课堂上，大部分学生都能很活跃的回答老师提出的问题，积极跟着老师拼读单词，朗读课文。其实这也制造了一种假象，学生认为自己常常被老师提问，认为自己能够回答老师的问题，于是认为自己的英语学得很不错，自我感觉特别好。于是下课后在英语上花的时间就少了。其实要学好英语，课上占40%，其余的60%还需要学生在课后不断的巩固，加深记忆。在课上老师更多的是教授新知识，当然课上也会有少量的时间巩固新学的知识。但是这些时间是公共的时间，而不是每个学生私有的时间，所以不可能照顾到每个学生，不可能让所有学生都达到相同的程度。况且每个学生对新知识得接受能力都是不同的，有的可能当堂就已经有很深的印象，很难忘记，但这肯定是很少的。大部分学生都只能是初步接触了新知识，要真正接受新知识还要学生在课后多下功夫，不然肯定会和别的同学拉下差距。
那么在课后学生到底该怎么做才能把其余的60%补回来呢？英语毕竟不是我们自己的语言，大多数学生除了英语课其余时间根本就不会想到要说英语，所以，在课后一定要主动抽时间为自己补习英语。学好英语，不外乎就是在听，说，读，写这些方面下功夫。
首先说一下听，每个学生都有和书相配套的磁带，可是请各位家长检查一下自己的子女的英语磁带，有多少学生的磁带还是和刚发的时候一样的，根本就没有听过。不要说另外买什么英语听力磁带或者英语学习的碟片了，连自己手头的磁带都不去听，光靠上课听一点点的磁带，学生的听力根本就不能有什么发展。不会听就不能说，而说白了，学了英语就是要说，那不是白学了么？听录音机跟读，目的应该是两种，一种同学是上课没有完全消化，听录音是补充学习的过程，另外一种是提高自己的听力和口语表达能力，要学生尽力地去模仿录音机里的发音，从而使自己的听力和口语都提高一个层次。

We know how fear feels, but I'm not sure we spend enough time thinking about what our fears mean. As we grow up, we're often encouraged to think of fear as a weakness, just another childish thing to discard like baby teeth or roller skates. And I think it's no accident that we think this way. Neuroscientists have actually shown that human beings are hard'wired to be optimists. So maybe that's why we think of fear, sometimes, as a danger in and of itself. “Don't worry,” we like to say to one another. “Don't panic.” In English, fear is something we conquer. It's something we fight.
