　　My dog will be dead. She is very old. We have kept her for ten years. Now her hairs are falling. And she always lies on the ground. She can’t see very clearly. She eats a little. She becomes thin. She was very strong before. She is still guarding my family. She is one of my family member. Now we are all uneasy because she will die. I think you may know my thinking. Even if it is a dog, you can’t forget it. So these days, we feet her the best food.

　　The night before the examination

　　The clock struck eleven at night. The whole house was quiet. Everyone was in bed except me. Under the strong light, I looked gloomily before me at a huge pile of that disgusting stuff they call“books”.

　　I was going to have my examination the next day.

　　“Whencan I go to bed ” I asked myself. I did not answer. In fact I dared not.

　　The clock struck 12.“Oh, dear!”I cried. “Ten more books to read before I can go to bed!”We students are the most wretched creatures in the world.

　　On the second day of the big year, I went to visit an uncle with my parents. As soon as he got into his uncle's house, he saw a little dog with long, yellow hair jumping up and down at us. It's like it doesn't welcome us. I tried to touch it, but it went down under the table and watched my every move. Later, my uncle's aunt said: "my dog does not know you, let it lick your hand, you rolled its hair, it knows you" I did as my aunt said, and sure enough it liked me. I've been playing with it for a long time, and I'm going to go and it's going to be fun.

　　People still like the festival. Because most people can have a long holiday，and we are free to go on a trip or visit our friends or have parties with our family.

　　In the evenings，we can have a big meal in the restaurant or stay at home with family and watch the TV programs.

　　I like the Spring Festival very much. How wonderful the Spring Festival is!

　　The Lunar New Year is a great occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year， during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school， and shops are closed.

　　Several days before the new year， people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs， sheep， cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned； coupletsare posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

　　On the eve of the new year， each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fire works to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year， almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. When people meet on the way， they say to each other "Happy New Year". Friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. Children indulge themselves in games.

　　除夕是指一年最后一天的晚上，与春节首尾相连，是“一夜连双岁，五更分二年”的重要时刻。“除”是“去”的意思，除夕的意思就是“月穷岁尽”，表示旧岁至此而除，来年另换新岁。除夕之夜是年节的第一个高潮。守岁，俗称“熬年”，是从吃年夜饭开始。年夜饭是一年中最具家庭亲情、充满温馨祥和的家宴，此时，人们不仅享受着满桌佳肴，更享受着浓浓的亲情和节日的`喜庆。

　　年夜饭之后，除年幼的孩子外，全家人开始守岁，共同辞旧迎新。在晋代就有除夕守岁习俗，南北朝时已很普遍，进入隋唐后守岁很盛行，宋代沿袭唐风更盛。另外，汉代已有除夕夜晚饮椒柏酒(用草药配制的药酒)以驱邪祛病的习俗，后世改为饮屠苏酒，王安石有诗“春风送暖入屠苏”。现如今，我国南方仍有年节时全家老小欢聚酣饮屠苏酒的风俗。

　　除夕夜，我国民间还要举行踩岁活动，即在院内将芝麻秆粘上用黄纸卷成的元宝形，攒成一捆，谓之“聚宝盆”。然后，全家人用脚将其踩碎，以“碎”谐“岁”，并借用芝麻开花节节高之吉祥寓意，祝愿家道兴旺，表达对新的一年的祝福和祈盼。
