大学英语作文 篇1

I have long hoped to become a college student. I made up my mind to go to college as early as 1979, the year I entered high school. If I become a college student, I will specialize in mathematics. Mathematics is the foundation of all sciences. On the one hand, it will help me to think logically; on the other, it will enable me to become a good scientist. A college education, will help me in a lot of other ways. Certainly, the most important thing for me to do right now is to do my best to prepare for the college entrance examination. If I work hard, I believe I will meet with success.

大学英语作文 篇2

  college students hunt jobs

today's college students face choices unheard of years ago. terms like two way selection, self-employment are not new to them. many students swarm into job market or look every talent fair for potential employers. the concept of selling oneself rather than hiding oneself is well accepted by students.

hunting a job is no small matter. instead, it is probably one of the most, if not the most, important decisions any of would-be graduates can make in a lifetime. therefore, they are very serious and cautious when that time comes. it is something that the society has taught them.

as the job market gets shrinking, it has also become a must for undergraduates (在校本科生)to work harder than before to keep their competitive edge . more students are engaged in their studies with no distractions . they are investing today for a promising tomorrow.

大学英语作文 篇3

the bustle of the hospital was a welcome distraction as i opened my new patients chart and headed for her room. my son, eric, had just brought home a disappointing report card, and my daughter, shannon, and i had argued again about her getting a drivers license. for the net eight hours i wanted to throw myself into helping people who i knew had much more to worry about than i did.

rebekah was only 32, admitted for chemotherapy after breast-cancer surgery, when i entered her room it took me a moment to spot her amid the bouncing forms of three giggling little girls.

i told rebekah i would be her nurse and she introduced her husband, warren; si-year-old ruthie; four-year-old hannah; and two-year-old molly. warren coaed the girls away from their mother with a promise of ice cream and assured rebekah they would return the net day.

as i rubbed alcohol on her arm to prepare it for the intravenous line, rebekah laughed nervously. i have to tell you im terrified of needles. itll be over before you know it, i said. ill give you a count of three.

rebekah shut her eyes tightly and murmured a prayer until it was over. then she smiled and squeezed my hand. before you go, could you get my bible from the table? i handed her the worn book. do you have a favorite bible verse? she asked. jesus wept. john 11: 35. such a sad one, she said. why?

it makes me feel closer to jesus, knowing he also eperienced human sorrow.

rebekah nodded thoughtfully and started flipping through her bible as i shut the door quietly behind me.

during the following months i watched rebekah struggle with the ravages of chemotherapy. her hospital stays became frequent and she worried about her children. meanwhile i continued to contend with raising my own kids. they always seemed either out or holed up in their rooms. i missed the days when they were as attached to me as rebekahs little girls were to her.

for a time it had seemed rebekahs chemotherapy was working. then doctors discovered another malignant lump. two months later, a chest -ray revealed the cancer had spread to her lungs. it was terminal. help me to help her through this, i prayed.

one day when i entered her room, i found her talking into a tape recorder. she picked up a yellow legal pad and held it out to me. im making a tape for my daughters, she said.

i read the list on her pad: starting school, confirmation, turning 16, first date, graduation. while i worried how to help her deal with death, she was planning for her childrens future.

she usually waited until the early hours of the morning to record the tapes so she could be free from interruptions. she filled them with family stories and advice?trying to cram a lifetime of love into a few precious hours. finally, every item in her notes had been checked off and she entrusted the tapes to her husband.

i often wondered what i would say in her place. my kids joked that i was like an fbi agent, with my constant questions about where theyd been and who theyd been with. where, i thought, are my words of encouragement and love?

it was three oclock one afternoon when i got an urgent call from the hospital. rebekah wanted me to come immediately with a blank tape. what topic has she forgotten? i wondered.

she was flushed and breathing hard when i entered her room. i slipped the tape into the recorder and held the microphone to her lips. ruthie, hannah, molly?this is the most important tape. she held my hand and closed her eyes. someday your daddy will bring home a new mommy. please make her feel special. show her how to take care of you. ruthie, honey, help her get your brownie uniform ready each tuesday. hannah, tell her you dont want meat sauce on your spaghetti. she wont know you like it separate. molly, dont get mad if theres no apple juice. drink something else. its okay to be sad, sweeties. jesus cried too. he knows about sadness and will help you to be happy again. remember, ill always love you.

i shut off the recorder and rebekah sighed deeply. thank you, nan, she said with a weak smile. youll give this one to them, wont you? she murmured as she slid into sleep.

a time would come when the tape would be played for rebekahs children, but right then, after i smoothed rebekahs blanket, i got in my car and hurried home. i thought of how my shannon also liked her sauce on the side and suddenly that quirk, which had annoyed me so many times, seemed to make her so much more precious. that night the kids didnt go out; they sat with me long after the spaghetti sauce had dried onto the dishes. and we talked ? without interrogations, without complaints?late into the night.

大学英语作文 篇4

  a tender rose of england

is it still blooming in your memory?

gentle sunshine penetrating through the window, i slothfully got up, turning on the radio as usual for the latest news. all at once, the breathtaking report shocked me. hardly could i believe that just over one night, princess diana left us the charming englands rose faded.

born in an average family, little diana, enjoyed a quite smooth and pleasant childhood. with her pure heart, she naively learnt to perceive the world as a vivid watercolor of broad golden fields, various lively creatures and vigorous attractive nature.her fetching eyes, the window of her soul, were an uncontaminated farm. they always were. hence, sophisticated as the society was, she never lost her enthusiasm for life. despite the ups and downs in later life, she remained passionate towards all.

god seems to like playing jokes on her. dianas life was almost a drama play. she attended a university in london, where she met her future husband, prince charles. a common place girl from the countryside and the prince of great britain were not seen as a perfect match. so the royal family did not give their approval of the marriage at first. however, as a result of their persistent efforts, the royalty finally compromised.their wedding ceremony was live broadcast on television throughout the world. in a gorgeous wedding dress, diana held a bunch of white roses, wearing a graceful and fascinating smile.her distinguished appearance, associated with the blooming roses, conquered everyone.

but it was pretty hard to evaluate whether it was lucky or not for diana to win the royaltys approval of her marriage, for it at last ended up in divorce. the widening gap between the princess and an ordinary girl caused increasing conflicts. once living in poverty, diana was full of sympathy for those who suffered starvation and diseases. despite the strong opposition of the royalty, she insisted on touring to africa and other under privileged areas with her sincere love and concern. furthermore, diana almost gave all of her fortune to set up plenty of funds to aid the suffering. when kissing the skinny little black african boy, diana once again impressed us by her childlike and a little bit stunning smile. her blonde hair was hopping on her effeminate shoulders; her bluish green eyes were outpouring compassion. diana won the name of englands rose by her noble personality more than her graceful appearance. she surely was!

as the princess or as an ordinary citizen, diana felt it her responsibility to help those who needed her support. after terminating her unsuccessful marriage, she continued her career of beneficence. not only did she leave her footprints all over the world, but she rooted the name of englands rose into everyones heart as well. her genuine smile in the barren desert gave rose a new meaning. where there was love, there was true beauty.

even after divorce, diana was still the focus of the mass media. journalists traced her by all means, trying to get every detail of her private life. diana paid no attention to them but maintained her own way of living. but the reporters followed her closer and closer, which eventually caused the terrible crash and the sudden death of our respectable diana. princess diana, the rose of england, left us at the age of only 36.

dianas good friend, eminent singer, alton john wrote a song the candle in the wind in her memory. the song makes many people shed tears. death is not the end of her life. the funds diana set up are still in operation. her permanent smile will never be gone. the beautiful englands rose will always be blooming in our hearts as time goes by.

但有些地方值得商榷,如her fetching eyes, the window of her soul, were an uncontamlnated farm.把眼睛比做一片未受污染的农田,这一比喻显然是不恰当的,只能从中文的意境去理解。可改为the world was like an uncontaminated farm ln her eyes。

大学英语作文 篇6

  My First Year in College

Many high school graduates wrongly assume that university life is totally free from worries。 After a period of serious and solemn study in senior three, the hard beavers expect to take a break and develop some habits。 However, many may find later that the situation may be beyond their anticipation。

I've tried to convince the adults around that the image they have of my university life as a free and unrestrained one is some what misunderstanding。 In reality, school life is so busy that I sometimes wonder if my energy is enough。

About my first year in college, my life is mainly made up of two parts, study and practice。As a student, the main task is study。 In order to gain a high GPA, I have to get used to the college life style and begin a new pursue in study。 It is the learning method that shows off most of the differences between senior study and college study。 ! have a roommate who goes out to have lessons in the morning and comes back in the evening after the self—study classroom is closed。 The peers' behaviors make me feel under pressure。 In university, one% view of life is integrally formed and strengthened。 I begin to program my future plan and realize that study itself is an affair for me。 The more courses I learn by heart, the more maturity I get。 University education ensures students of better jobs。I usually reckon that time consuming on study is worthwhile as it bears such important events as occupation, career and responsibility。

To some extent, study and practice are intertwined, and they begin from the very start of freshman year。 Student Union enjoys almost complete acceptance。 It is a place where one can get his ability trained, have his competence applied and make a lot of friends who share the same interests with him。 But sometimes, social activities and practices are time consuming, what's more, the sense of responsibility also requires you to make effort to fulfill the task。

No one starts in one's present position all along that it was what he or she wants to do。 Sometimes, the chance will just lead you down some unforeseen trail only if you have a prepared mind。 My first year in college is not relaxed, but all way along is full of curiosity and satisfaction。
