大学英语作文 篇1

n allegiant follower of women' s rights?

since the time god created adam and eve, women and men, with different body structure and distinct characteristics, are regarded as two totally different groups in the world.from that time, our ancestors have never felt suspicious of this established fact. modern women, however, with highly developed intellect, tend to distrust the truth held for thousands of years. believe it or not, a friend of mine is such a girl who always pretends to be an allegiant follower of women's rights.

such things happen that she always goes into raptures at the mere mention of women's rights. she has a big heap of theories of her own to teach those naive girls in the dorm. though she often etols the virtue of being independent, having no marriage, having no children, or even never trusting men's words, she has never put it into practice up to now.what's more ridiculous, she was propagating her forever-correct ideas last minute, while she is meeting her beloved boyfriend this minute and never tired of meeting those new handsome guys. when we laughed at her for her unworkable theories, she always laughed like a drain, "i love guys, but i don't trust them.what i am doing is to earn the same opportunity of having fun of love as men always do,"she added every time, "eperience is the best way to protect yourself from those bad guys!" this doesn't surprise me any more for the real equality with men is not like this.

in my opinion, real advocators of women rights never deliberately set out to draw attention to themselves.they disregard those old social rules of women and men without being aware that they've really done something to bridge the inequality with men. compared with those women like who has been mentioned above, they have a strong inner desire to pursue the same opportunity as men have. unlike girls who lay great emphasis on taking advantage of cosmetics and fashionable dressing, they spent much more time in learning, reading and perfecting themselves.they've been conscious that without a perfect performance capability and advanced skills in the field of what they are working, the equal opportunities won't fall down from the heaven. besides this, they also involve themselves in such activities as discussions, seminars, forums and mass media to make the society and men know them well. this, with no doubt, is an effective way to better women's social status and narrow the gap between men and women.

nowadays, "women's rights" becomes a fashionable term for women. while all women are talking about their ideas loudly hoping to stand themselves out from others, only a few of them have really donesomethingtopavetheway tothe"equal world". in my opinion, they are actually the pioneers of our world and are worth being respected.

大学英语作文 篇2

once upon a time there was a queen who had a beautiful baby daughter. she asked all the fairies in the kingdom to the christening, but unfortunately forgot to invite one of them, who was a bit of a witch as well. she came anyway, but as she passed the babys cradle, she said:

銆?銆?when you are siteen, you will injure yourself with a spindle and die!

銆?銆?oh, no! screamed the queen in horror. a good fairy quickly chanted a magic spell to change the curse. when she hurt herself, the girl would fall into a very deep sleep instead of dying.

銆?銆?the years went by, the little princess grew and became the most beautiful girl in the whole kingdom. her mother was always very careful to keep her away from spindles, but the princess, on her siteenth birthday, as she wandered through the castle, came into a room where an old servant was spinning.

銆?銆?what are you doing? she asked the servant.

銆?銆?im spinning. havent you seen a spindle before?

銆?銆?no. let me see it! the servant handed the girl the spindle ... and she pricked herself with it and. with a sigh, dropped to the

  floor.

銆?銆?the terrified old woman hurried to tell the queen. beside herself with anguish, the queen did her best to awaken her daughter but in vain. the court doctors and wizards were called, but there was nothing they could do. the girl could not be wakened from her deep sleep. the good fairy who managed to avoid the worst of the curse came too, and the queen said to her,

  銆?銆?when will my daughter waken?

銆?銆?i dont know, the fairy admitted sadly.

銆?銆?in a years time, ten years or twenty? the queen went on.

銆?銆?maybe in a hundred years time. who knows? said the fairy.

銆?銆?oh! what would make her waken? asked the queen weeplng.

銆?銆?love, replied the fairy. if a man of pure heart were to fall in love with her, that would bring her back to life!

銆?銆?how can a man fall in love with a sleeping girl? sobbed the queen, and so heart-broken was she that, a few days later, she died. the sleeping princess was taken to her room and laid on the bed surrounded by garlands of flowers. she was so beautiful, with a sweet face, not like those of the dead, but pink like those who are sleeping peacefully. the good fairy said to herself,

銆?銆?when she wakens, who is she going to see around her? strange faces and people she doesnt know? i can never let that happen. it would be too painful for this unfortunate girl.

銆?銆?so the fairy cast a spell; and everyone that lived in the castle - soldiers, ministers, guards, servants, ladies, pages, cooks, maids and knights - all fell into a deep sleep, wherever they were at that very moment.

銆?銆?now, thought the fairy, when the princess wakes up, they too will awaken, and life will go on from there. and she left the castle, now wrapped in silence. not a sound was to be heard, nothing moved ecept for the clocks, but when they too ran down, they stopped, and time stopped with them. not even the faintest rustle was to be heard, only the wind whistling round the turrets, not a single voice, only the cry of birds.

銆?銆?the years sped past. in the castle grounds, the trees grew tall. the bushes became thick and straggling, the grass invaded the courtyards and the creepers spread up the walls. in a hundred years, a dense forest grew up.

銆?銆?now, it so happened that a prince arrived in these parts. he was the son of a king in a country close by. young, handsome and melancholy, he sought in solitude everything he could not find in the company of other men: serenity, sincerity and purity. wandering on his trusty steed he arrived, one day, at the dark forest. being adventurous, he decided to

eplore it. he made his way through slowly and with a struggle, for the trees and bushes grew in a thick tangle. a few hours later, now losing heart, he was about to turn his orse and go back when he thought he could see something through the trees . . . he pushed back the branches . . .. wonder of wonders! there in front of him stood a castle with high towers. the young man stood stock still in amazement,

銆? i wonder who this castle belongs to? he thought.

銆? the young prince rode on towards the castle. the drawbridge was down and, holding his horse by the reins, he crossed over it. immediately he saw the inhabitants draped all over the steps, the halls and courtyards, and said to himself,

銆?銆?good heavens! theyre dead! but in a moment, he realised that they were sound asleep. wake up! wake up! he shouted, but nobody moved. still thoroughly astonished, he went into the castle and again discovered more people, lying fast asleep on the floor. as

though led by a hand in the complete silence, the prince finally reached the room where the beautiful princess lay fast asleep. for a long time he stood gazing at her face, so full of serenity, so peaceful, lovely and pure, and he felt spring to his heart that

love he had always been searching for and never found. overcome by emotion, he went close, lifted the girls little white hand and gently kissed it . . .

銆?銆?at that kiss, the prlncess qulckly opened her eyes, and wakening from her long long sleep, seeing the prince beside her, murmured:

銆?銆?oh, you have come at last! i was waiting for you in my dream. ive waited so long!

銆?銆?just then, the spell was broken. the princess rose to her feet, holding out her hand to the prince. and the whole castle woke up too. everybody rose to their feet and they all stared round in amazement, wondering what had happened. when they finally realised, they rushed to the princess, more beautiful and happier then ever.

銆?銆?a few days later, the castle that only a short time before had lain in silence, now rang with the sound of singing, music and happy laughter at the great party given in honour of the prince and princess, who were getting married. they lived happily ever after, as they always do in fairy tales, not quite so often, however, in real life.

The Young Want to Be Leaders

An online survey conducted by the China Youth Daily shows that most young people (66.6%) want to be a leader, whether they serve in private companies or public sections* Only 4.8% say they are not interested in being a leader. This is especially comnionplace among people bom ia the 70s and 80s.

Some people say it is a good phenomenon that the young want to be leaders. After all, it shows that the young have great ambitions which will inspire them to work hard. Others, however, think otherwise. They argue that it only reveals so many young people are chasing fame 如d fortune, a sign that is bad for the healthy development of the young and the whole society.

Peisonallyj I believe the saying ICHe who doesn’t want to be a general isn’t a good soldier' And, it’s encouraging that we still have many young people who seek power from a mere view of the good of the people. So, I dcm^t think it anything wrong for the young desiring to have a position in the lead as long as they don’t eye it as a shortcut to fame and fortune.

From the cartoon given above, we can observe that there are two people watching Peking Opera. With the actress performing vividly on the stage, the old man is watching attentively. However, the little boy sitting beside does not even cast a glance at the actress and falls sleepy. It is obvious that he shows no interest in Peking Opera.

The cartoon reflects an interesting and usual respect of daily life. However, from a deeper perspectives, it also reveals the gradual loss of traditional culture in modern society. What exactly contribute to this phenomenon ? Possible reasons could be listed as follows: for one thing, quite a few people, especially youngsters, hold that Chinese traditional culture is out-dated and of little use in modern society. Perhaps, from their perspective, traditional culture form the distant past can hardly adapt to or keep pace with the ever-changing new world. Moreover, exotic cultures, to some extent, have also posed a great challenge to the traditional culture of China. As we can see, a large body of people have been attracted by foreign cultures which feature diversity, novelty and richness Crazy fans of foreign TV programs, electronic products or even ways of life abound in our daily life.

However, no one can deny the significance of Chinese traditional culture. It is the crystallization of Chinese wisdom and civilization. An individual or nation showing no respect to the essence of traditional culture cannot be expected to develop and be stronger. Hence, something could and should be done to reverse the inexorable decline in the emphasis of Chinese traditional culture.

Is It Up to Students to Evaluate Teachers?

The past few years have witnessed a mounting number of universities allowing students to evaluate their teachers and even decide if they can stay on their positions or not. To this practice, peoples attitudes differ considerably. Some applaud it warmly whereas others criticize and even condemn it harshly.

Proponents of the practice may list the following reasons. In the first place, they assert that students are the people who know the most clearly about the teaching performance of a teacher, so they should have the say in evaluating him or her. In the second place, they contend that students have paid for their education, so they have the right to decide which teacher should be employed.

Opponents, however, point out that it is dangerous to leave the right to students to evaluate teachers. For one thing, students may not know what ought to be taught and how it should be taught; they may only judge a teacher according to his temper and even accent or appearance. For another, in order to please students, some teachers may resort to some improper means.

Personally, I believe that both views are justifiable, and we should achieve a balance between them by employing the evaluating approach in a reasonable and beneficial way. To be specific, students should be allowed to evaluate their teachers, but they may not be the only decision-maker in the teachers fate.

  Youngsters’ Worship

Nowadays, star-worshiping is popular among teenagers, especially many university students.

Why? When it comes to the symptoms of worshiping a star, the main factor I’d like to mention is imitation. With a blind love for their idols, teenagers firmly believe that their choices are the best. As a result, the stars’ clothes, hairstyles and hobbies, as well as their behaviors in public, are closely observed or followed, though, to some extent, they may be considered improper or even ridiculous.

In my opinion, having idols is not a bad thing. However, we should make it clear who are the real “heroes”. As far as I am concerned, the real heroes are those who are making the most contributions to our society, such as teachers, doctors and scientists. As students, we should learn from them. Only in this way can we become useful persons in the future.
